Ceramic Artist & Workshop Leader

Jeff Rogers

Jeff Rogers has over thirty years of experience as an art potter, production potter, pottery teacher, and workshop leader, most recently working as a production potter in Vermont with Simon Pearce.

Jeff began life in clay as a potter’s apprentice to the renowned potter Charles Counts at Rising Fawn Pottery on Lookout Mountain, Georgia. He moved to Montsalvy, France, and studied with Sue Atkins at La Potterie du Don. Jeff’s passion for pottery has taken him around the world. He has taught, produced, and exhibited pottery in France, Haiti, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and other, often exotic, locales and situations. His work graces many collections, and his dinnerware has served the president of France.

Alongside his love and dedication to artistic vision and craftsmanship in clay, Jeff has a solid commitment to community involvement related to justice and equality. He worked with Beyond Borders in Haiti for several years to help build and support indigenous movements there. In Chattanooga, TN, Jeff collaborated with PUSH (People United to Serve Humanity). He was a founding member and community liaison for the JEDI (Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion) Committee of Windsor, VT.

Jeff’s skill and passion as a potter and his ease of communication bring fun and delight into his teaching and organizing work. When his hands are not in clay or engaged in the community, Jeff may be found playing guitar and singing quirky jazz songs at a local open mike.
